A host country to more than 23,000 international students – including a large number from Asian regions– Poland offers a good selection of postgraduate and PhD courses with relatively low tuition fees.

BASIC INFORMATION

Poland is situated in Central Europe and borders Belarus, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Slovakia and Ukraine. The country is mostly part of the Great European Plain, while to the south, the plain rises to the Carpathian and Sudeten Mountains. Poland has a population of 38.2 million and the official language is Polish. Poland’s historic and impressive capital is Warsaw – whilst Wroclaw, the largest city in Western Poland, is a 2016 European Capital of Culture. In economic terms, the Polish economy has grown rapidly over the last two decades, and it is now the 6th largest in the European Union. From the perspective of education, Poland universities for international students are considered the best in europe. There has been large-scale recent investment in its companies and infrastructure and projections suggest continued economic growth to 2030. The largest component of the economy is the service sector, followed by industry where fertilizers, petrochemicals, electrical machinery, electronics, car manufacture and shipbuilding are key sub sectors.

The academic degree of doctor (Ph.D.) is awarded to those who pass their doctoral examinations and submit and defend a doctoral dissertation (holding the title of magister or its equivalent is a necessary condition for successively obtaining the doctor’s degree). Tuition fees in Poland vary, Poland in a popular destination for international students and according to UNESCOs latest statistics it is a host country to more than 23,000 international tertiary level students, Poland has 7 universities which features in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016 – the highest ranked being The University of Warsaw (501-600).

Persons interested in studying in Poland are welcome to contact respective Polish higher educational institutions in order to obtain detailed information on the conditions of admission and the courses and programmes, which they offer to foreign students. All international students may apply for scholarships within bilateral agreements on direct cooperation offered through Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange.

THE HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM

There are a total of 121 state higher educational institutions and 210 non- state higher educational institutions to study in Poland for international students, which offer a very wide range of different courses and programmes, specially for master degree in poland. Graduates of higher professional courses are awarded the title of Bachelor of Arts/Science or Engineer (Bachelor of Engineering) after 3 to 4 years of study. Graduates of university-type higher educational institutions are awarded the title of magister (Master of Arts/Science) or its equivalent after taking standard 5-year MA/MSc level courses or 1.5 to 2-year complementary MA/MSc level courses (intended for holders of the professional title of Bachelor of Arts/Science or Engineer received either at university-type institutions or institutions of higher professional education).
